Jane M. Savard
Jane Savard has been handling asbestos cases since 1976. Her experience includes litigation of workers compensation, bodily injury, insurance coverage, property damage, and bankruptcy matters involving product manufacturers, contractors, premises defendants and companies involved in the shipbuilding industry. Jane has developed defense strategies for clients and both supervised and assisted in implementing these strategies for the defense of thousands of asbestos and toxic tort cases both in Washington courts and nationwide.
Ms. Savard began her career in 1976 in Los Angeles as a Longshore claims adjuster. She has worked for insurance companies both on the primary and reinsurance levels and with large self-insured corporations handling all aspects of risk management and asbestos case work, toxic tort, premises liability and environmental litigation. Since 2000, Ms. Savard has been associated with several Seattle area law firms handling all aspects of discovery, trial preparation and case management. Her experience includes several trials which resulted in defense verdicts for friction and dryer felt defendants.
Jane has many years of experience in litigation for municipalities and in business law. Her business clients have included start-ups and established companies in high tech and service fields. Jane is the chief author of the 1999 through 2007 editions of the Internet and Technology Law chapter of the Washington Lawyers Practice Manual and is past Chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Electronic Communications Committee.
She also has fourteen years of claims experience in insurance, including self-insurance and reinsurance with major national insurance companies. Jane has experience in insurance underwriting, accounting, auditing and actuarial forecasting regarding long-term liabilities such as asbestos, toxic exposures and environmental claims. She designed and implemented a long-term asbestos, toxic tort and environmental risk management system for a major Northwest insurance carrier. She is also the founder of the Northwest Environmental Claims Association and co-founded the Northwest Reinsurance Association.
Jane has prepared for and participated in many asbestos trials. In her current role, she works with several Seattle law firms preparing asbestos cases for trial. The firms she works with have Ford, Chrysler, T H Agriculture & Nutrition, LLC, DAP, General Dynamics, MillerCoors, Scapa, Viking Pump, Lockheed, Pneumo Abex, LLC and many others as clients.
